Most people are unaware that the colour of the clothes you wear when you are fishing can have a direct effect on the amount of fish you are likely to catch. Clothes that help you to blend into the background mean that you are less likely to scare off your potential catch. In addition, to enjoy a good day, or several days of fishing you need to ensure that you are comfortable in what you are wearing and are dressed appropriately for the weather and for what you are doing.

There is no reason to make any huge changes to your normal holiday packing habits for your fishing holiday. There will however be a few additional items you will want to take with you. As always, it will depend on the time of year and to some extent the type of fishing that you intend on doing.

If you are planning your fishing holiday during the winter months or in a cool climate, then different clothes will be required than if you were taking a fishing trip during the summer months. There may also be some differences in what you will need to take depending on whether you are planning to fish from land or off a boat.

For those fishing in cold temperatures then common sense will tell you that layers of warm clothing are the most practical so that they can be easily removed in the case of becoming too warm. If you are fishing in the summer months then there is a much wider variety of clothes that you may want to consider. You will want to be comfortable as well as cool, so wear loose fitting clothing such as shorts and t-shirts, not forgetting to take a jumper with you in case the weather should turn cooler in the evening.

The accessories you will need for your fishing holiday are equally as important as the clothes you will take with you. You will need to make sure you have a hat and sunglasses to protect you from the sun and to allow you to see what you are doing in the water. In addition, always ensure you have some sort of waterproof with you in case the weather turns wet. Make sure you are wearing suitable footwear such as boots that will prevent you from falling over either on land or on a boat and even if you think you are a strong swimmer, wearing a life vest is always a good idea.
